Birthday cake recipe for 25-30 people

I am sure you are all busy with Christmas but I am posting in the hope that someone will have time to share their recipe for a yummy birthday cake that will feed 25-30 people (or do I need to make two cakes to feed that number?)

Its DDs birthday just after Christmas and as usual my grand plans of either being ready in advance or keeping things simple have failed and I need to make something lovely to feed the many people who we think will be coming to see her and us on the day. Xmas Grin

I would love to make a beautifully iced cake - fondant I think is what I have in my head but I have never tried this and imagine its impossibly hard?

Any top tips and idiots guides for how to give DD a lovely cake that won't run out before everyone has had some would be so gratefully received.

Thank you!

I used a 10" ring cake tin to make a snake birthday cake for dd. It cut into 20-22 pieces. If you could get a slightly bigger one, say 12", that would make a longer snake.

If you go down the 'snake' route, a rough frosting is the best bet for icing as a fondant wouldn't hide the joins as you have to cut the ring into 4 and rearrange to make the snake.

loads of options but to make the cake go further don't cut it in triangle wedges.
cut it into rectangles

this is a serving guide
