Does anyone have a good Xmas Stuffing recipe that uses vac-packed chestnuts?

As it says, really....

I have uncovered a pack of vacuum packed chestnuts lurking in the cupboard from last year which needs using up, but I haven't yet found a Stuffing recipe which floats my boat.

Something chestnutty...appley....sausagey??

Recipes or links gratefully received.

the basic chestnut stuffing recipe, is just sausagemeat, chestnuts, onion, breadcrumbs, nutmeg, and maybe a few herbs, butter or oil to bind.

I am doing my throw it in a bowl version, with veggie sausagemeat, which works out really well.

I am sure you could just dice up some apple and throw that in too??

I am roasting the chestnuts in the oven first, cos i am a dickhead!! Will make mine xmas eve morning.

or that could be an egg to bind, not sure, i am a rubbish cook lol.

So you think I should dispense with a recipe and just fling stuff in a bowl? Could be interesting....

Yes I make a chestnut stuffing every year as my veggy main and a side for others.

Just chestnuts, dried cranberries, sage, onion breadcrumbs, egg and whaterver else...no recipie to speak of.

just been watching hugh wotsit, doing stuffing.

He fried the onion, bunged in apple, sage ( i won't cos we have basic sage and onion seperate) almonds, sausagemeat, and anything else by the looks of it.

Don't think you can go wrong really!!

OK, I'll unleash my inner Jamie, dispense with a recipe and toss random stuff creatively into a bowl from a great height. I'm sure it will be absolutely pukka.

My DH makes stuffing balls, usual breadcrumb, sage, sausagemeat, chestnut mix but then shape into balls and wrap in prosciutto which goes lovely and crispy in the oven, delish.

Ooh, liking the prosciutto touch, but we have a prosciutto-based Christmas starter planned, so probably will save that for another time.
