What are you eating this week before the Big Christmas Dinner on Saturday?

I did a biggish shop on thursday and am hoping it will keep us going til the snow melts a bit and I can defrost the car.

Tonight we had

Prawn Noodle soup with prawn crackers

For the rest of the week I have planned

Spag Bol
Pasta Ceci (Chickpea soup)
Meatballs with rice
Omelettes

Not very inspired really. I get soooo bored of thinking what to eat esp when DH is away.

Tonight - curry, chapatis, bhajis, yoghurt and mint sauce

Tomorrow - cheese and potato pie with veggie sausages and spiced peas

Weds - possibly eating out

Thurs - soup, bread, crumble

Fri (is that Christmas Eve?) - cheese board type meal

Like the sound of chickpea soup - do you have a recipe?

BendyBobCratchit · 20/12/2010 18:21

Oh everyday food in the few days before Christmas is a pita.

I'm focussing on the 'main event' and I keep being dragged back to mundane reality.

I do wish - out of courtesy to me - everyone would just stop eating for a few days HmmWink

Tonight it's pasta/salmon and Philadelphia mainly cos it's easy.

lia66 · 20/12/2010 18:21

today we have had chicken chips and peas, (very uninspired)

Have also got homemade stew defrosting for tomorrow (freeing up freezer space)

chilli

wraps

err thats it so far. Xmas Smile

DH usually makes it but thought I would have a stab at it tomorrow.

It involves carrots, celery, onions, 6 x tins chickpeas and veg stock. Am presuming that I will sweat off the veg, add chickpeas and stock! Grin

Not very precise but very Jamie Oliver!! DH is away but if I speak to him tonight I will ask if there is a magic ingredient to add!

I don't do a Xmas themed week if that's what you're asking Xmas Grin cranberry flavoured mince , bleurgh Xmas Grin

BelligerentYhoULE · 20/12/2010 18:23

Thank you. I thought it would involve hours of soaking, hours of boiling and herbs tied up in muslin!

FlightoftheCrimbleTree · 20/12/2010 18:24

Have had outdoor reared sausages tonight, with roasted veg and potatoes (very easy)

tomorrow might have fish fingers (again)

chicken and mush pies

Tortelloni

Friday we are going to a party so might go mad on the buffet there Grin

That's about it.

Roxylox · 20/12/2010 18:31

My DH has offered to take care of all meals from today til Thursday Shock

So I've moved all my Christmas food to the fridge in the garage (so he doesn't use all that up)and am trying to be grateful and gracious and not say things like "Have you bought any bread?"

I wonder if I/ he/ we will last til Thursday Grin

Rupreckt · 20/12/2010 20:12

DH might well mention a muslin of fresh herbs.

I will phone him later!

Tonight we're having prawn curry with cauliflower 'rice'. Tomorrow I don't know - DH is out for Christmas do with work so I might order myself a pizza, thereby blowing my low-carb diet out of the water, again.
