We're having roast beef, but want something light as a starter.

Any ideas.

Sliced tomato with mozzarella drizzled with green pesto. Bloody lovely and takes seconds to prepare.

Glass of wine? Selection of crisps? Ok - smoked salmon and brown b&B

mackerel pate with toast is yummy and quick to make.

This melon/prosciutto salad is nice, and very quick to make.

You don't need a starter for Christmas Dinner.

Have smoked-salmony canapes with drinks - much easier then to get to grips with serving all the last minute veg onto hot plates etc!

Also, too much food - concentrate on fantastic cheese and port afterwards.

Smoked salmon with ready made blinis & sour cream.

I like doing a little starter. Never normally do starters at home so is special for christmas day.

I don't like smoked salmon.

I do melon and then mull some forest fruits and serve as a warm sauce over the melon

How about pate and brown toast triangles with salad garnish. Or i have a great recipe for a chix and spring onion terrine. Not long to prep and does look and taste great bt takes an hour in oven.
