Breadcrumbs - help, I'm about to bake xmas cake and don't have any!

Normally, I buy breadcrumbs but forgot. Can I use bread slices and whizz them in a food processor?

ok - do I have to toast them first - think it might be a bit too wet otherwise

nope just chuck it in and whizz it up, will be fine
