I've always used oxo but thought as MPW uses Knorr I would give them a go. Ewwwwww, how salty? Yuk! I know stock cubes can be salty but these are ewwwwww! Serves me right for buying a product just because MPW uses them! Xmas Blush

Agree-and they a very distinct taste, you can always tell when something has been cooked with them.

BertieBottlesOfMulledWine · 15/12/2010 21:44

Oh I love knorr stock cubes. Maybe you used too much? I find a little goes a long way.

RiojaLover75 · 15/12/2010 21:45

Try Kallo! Not at all salty, no msg and all organic Xmas Smile. They're lovely.

ravenAK · 15/12/2010 21:47

They are INCREDIBLY salty. I usually bung a veggie oxo cube in gravy - we're vegetarian so basically onion, veg gravy granules, stock (veg water & a cube) & booze - used a Knorr one once & rendered an entire pan of gravy inedible.

I like Marigold myself.

Vegan, salt free, organic and god knows what varieties available too.

And you can just put a spoon in and take out as much or as little as you want.

I love Knorr stock cubes - my cupboard is full of them! Grin

SquigglePigs · 16/12/2010 22:17

I like them - but I mix the cube with a 3x the amount of water it recommends, otherwise I could see it being too strong.

LauraNorder · 16/12/2010 22:18

I chucked them out today!

They are horrible. My mum used to make casserole with knorr stock cubes when we were kids- it always ended up in the bin!

belgo · 17/12/2010 15:08

I use them when I make a big batch of soup, I only need one or two cubes, and don't add any other salt.

WinkyWinkola · 17/12/2010 15:10

I find both Knorr and Oxo foul. Kallo is much nicer.

Try M&S concentrated beef, chicken and veg stock in a jar - I've never crumble a cube since discovering it.

Dexterrocks · 17/12/2010 17:16

Marigold is my favourite. It also doesn't come in cubes so you don't have to use a whole one.

SkiingGardeningTwinklyBauble · 19/12/2010 17:53

I use the dry cubes and find them ok, but the stock pot things are pure salt! Will be looking for the jars now though.....

ChristmasTreeButtonBee · 19/12/2010 18:03

Agree that knorr are horrible. Kallo much nicer. Don't like beef stock cubes at all and avoid them. I make my own chicken stock and freeze. So it's only really veg that I use.
