Dinner for 6 people tomorrow night - what should I make?

I completely forgot that invited some friends round for tomorrow, I did this last week after a few wines! I was going to make a curry but one of them doesn't like it.

Any suggestions for easy meals that I can prepare throuh the day? I always make lasagne so would like to do something different!

Roast chicken & potatoes? And a nice big salad & maybe a special dessert? I think everyone loves roast chicken, plain as it is.

Waitrose spinach pancetta and gnocchi thing. Quick to do but lovely. On their website if you search.

I would do slow roast lamb. Shove it in the oven at lunchtime and get it out when it's time to eat.

My fallback recipe is Creamy garlicky chicken. Basically, you make a sauce to go over chicken by melting Boursin cheese (garlic and herb) with enough vegetable stock until you get a rich creamy sauce - about a small mug full. Then pour it over baked chicken breasts. Really easy!!

Pumpkin that sounds lovely - do you just do the chicken in the oven before you pour the sauce? And what would you normally serve it with?

I roast cubes of chicken, cubes of sweet potato and cherry tomatoes in the oven with olive oil, garlic and dried rosemary (dont miss out the rosemary it makes all the difference) .

Serve with cous cous (I add paprika to the water/stock when making the cous cous, makes it lovely and spicy) and creme fraiche. Very easy one pan dish, you can prepare everythng but the cous cous beforehand and just stick in the oven when they arrive and taste AMAZING!

I also have a great Greek Lamb Stew with pasta recipe which is fab dinner party food.

If you're doing roast lamb can I suggest my rub which is made by whizzing up a tin of anchovies and oil, olive oil, garlic cloves, rosemary and capers. It's fabulous and never fails to impress.

Alibaba - Sorry I didn't get back to you. I just pan fry the chicken or roast it in the oven. Then serve with sauted potatoes and veg.
