I bought some braising steak from the meat counter at the supermarket last Thursday. Do you think it's ok to use today (Monday) in a casserole? Please don't ask me to sniff as I am veggie and will gag.

If it looks ok and you can't smell it from a normal distance then I would say yes. I guess as it's braising steak you will be cooking it for quite a long time. Also beef tends to last longer than chicken.

Thanks Tutu. Will try it and let DH sample. If he survives we'll give it to the DCs.

really expensive steak is hung (gag) for something like 35 days so it does keep a long time.

but still I'd get someone else to sniff it for you just to make sure Smile

def will be fine. unless it has mold on it, even if meat has green tinges it will still be fine.
