My Plum jam won't set - what have I done wrong?

I've used pectin....have I over boiled?

Can I save it?

You can't overboil jam. You can under-boil it though. You need a really good rolling boil, boil hard until it's ready to set.

Don't throw it away if it doesn't, call it plum sauce instead and use it with meat or in steamed puddings and things.

have you put it in the jars yet? I had similar problem with rhubarb jam. I jarred it up and even once it was completely cool it seemed to be too sloppy. However, the next day, it was perfectly set. Good luck

I made blackberry jam a few years ago, and it didn't set for 2 days.

Boil it again if it doesn't set and add more sugar. You shouldn't need pectin with plums so I expect you have either not added enough sugar or not boiled enough - probably the latter.

Reboiled it and it is setting fine now
