Can I use rum or amaretto to make delia's christmas cake?

I don't have enough brandy - will it totally ruin it? I'd rather go with the amaretto....

amaretto would be gorgeous!!!
as she says you can put orange juice into it, its seems logical that you don't need 40% stuff.

Thank you both - I ended up having a good old sniff of my amaretto and rum and decided that the amaretto might be too sweet and then rum not quite right so I went and bought a small bottle of brandy.

Fruit all soaked (though 3 tbsp booze doesn't seem enough!! and will make it today!

I soak my fruit in any old alc. hanging about; every yr i send my DH to look for open bottles and the pudding is always fab (I do use more than Deels says though!!).

I made mine with Amaretto and it smells divine, but then I am an almond freak.
