don't want to do sausages and mash, kids don't want toad in the hole.

Any suggestions to get my tastebuds going?

The recipe of the week last week was lovely, it was a sausage and apple bake. I added wholegrain mustard. Think we did serve it with mash though.

orangina · 28/10/2010 16:39

Cook the sausages, along with some mushrooms and chopped onion. Make up a packet of pepper sauce, then cook some rice. Mix it all together.
Lovely!

DH made Jool's sausage pasta off of 30 minute meals the other night (recipe on the channel 4 website - can't do likny stuff, I'm afraid Blush). It was gorgeous.

MrsColumbo · 28/10/2010 17:13

Obviously can't do spelly stuff either, it appears. Blush!

Marlinspike · 28/10/2010 17:14

Jamie also has a recipe for a sausage cassoulet thing in his 30 minute recipes book - I haven't tried it yet, but it is on my list for next week (have ordered the butter beans and haricots from ocado in readiness)

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 28/10/2010 17:14

I had sausage and wild mushroom risotto last night. Just chop the sausages up and add in.

Tillyscoutsmum · 28/10/2010 17:18

Oooh - did a fab one pot sausage thingy from this month's Sainsburys magazine (just had a look on their website but can't see it Sad).

From memory (ish), put sausages, large new potatoes (sliced in half) in a roasting tin with oil and seasoning. Roast for 20 mins. Add 2 packs of cooked beeroot (quartered) and some courgettes chopped in batons. Roast for another 20 mins. Make a dressing from oil, white wine vinegar, dijon mustard and dill and toss the whole thing in the dressing and serve hot with some crusty bread to mop up the juices (it did recommend serving with rocket salad but the bread worked for me !)

lollipopshoes · 28/10/2010 17:20

oh you lot! Now I'm going to have to buy more sausages Grin

Mexican Chilli and Coriander sausages.

6-8 cooked sausages chopped
1 onion chopped
5-7 sliced mushrooms
2 cloves of garlic chopped
1 pepper chopped
1/4 tsp chilli powder/cayenne (optional)
1 tsp cocoa powder
2 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp paprika
1 tin chopped tomatoes/tomato puree/fresh tomatoes
1 tin red kidney beens
300mls water
1 cup rice

Soften onions, mushrooms for about 3-4mins, then add the water, tomato puree/tomatoes and stir. Add the kidney beans, sausages, cocoa powder, cumin, coriander, chilli/cayenne powder, paprika rice and garlic. Stir regularly until rice has absorbed all the water (add more if necessary) and is cooked. AND SERVE

One of our favourite staples is sausage with roasted veg and halloumi.

Bascially in a big roasting dish throw in red onion, sausages, and veg (sweet pots or white pots and butternut squash both yum together) add some cumin seeds. Roast for a bit then add the hallomi (doesnt need as long as the other stuff) then stir in a tin of chopped toms.

It's divine.

Also there is a recipe on the good food website that has red onion, sausage and squash roasted together then towards the end add a pot of ready made gravy and serve with green beans and mash. Also scrummy.

Take the sausages out of their casings, break into biggish pieces and fry til crispy on the outside and cooked through. Take out of the pan and add lots of butter, and some finely sliced onions (in long strings rather than diced). Fry gently til translucent - don't let them brown. Toss the sausage and onions with drained sweetcorn and cooked pasta.

My DD loves this.

Dublin Coddle - no mashing of potatoes required, easy lazy recipe!
