Help please- can I use rose instead of red wine for beef stew?

Already went to the shop, can't be bothered going again. Have some quite heavy Tavel rose.
Would that be alright?

I would think it would be too sweet. Skip the wine, it will be ok without it

It won't be too sweet, it just won't have the same depth of flavour.

Bit of a waste of Tavel though!

Thanks.

I need a consensus here, pleaseSmile

Will it improve the flavour even a bit or it'll be a total waste?

or will it be a waste, obv

will be ok

BooBooImpaledOnBrokenGlass · 27/10/2010 16:23

a waste

It will add to the flavour - any alcohol would do. As an alternative, do you have any beer/lager/cider?

MollysChambers · 27/10/2010 16:24

Wouldn't bother. Put in an extra stock cube instead. Or a splash of worcester sauce.

winnybella · 27/10/2010 16:26

Arrrrgh.

Grin

2 for and 2 against.

Haven't got any lager.

Can't put too many stock cubes, Molly, because I'm hoping DD will have some of it- don't want to overdose on salt.

Oh well, guess will add a bit of Tavel and drink the rest
