yes

SherlockLGJ · 12/09/2005 20:58

The last entry on this would suggest, not

SherlockLGJ · 12/09/2005 20:59

Popsycal, that looks as though I am spoiling for a fight, cross posts, honest.

poppy101 · 12/09/2005 20:59

no it doesn't work it all seperates and goes icky

ok with semi-skimmed though

Twiglett · 12/09/2005 21:00

separates

and icky is a technical term

I thought you couldn't but you certainly can freeze whole milk from Tesco now. It comes with a freze logo on the label and I have been freezing it for a few months now and defrosting it no problem.

Lonelymum · 12/09/2005 21:02

Maybe it is OK if it is homogenised wheich a lot of milk is now.

poppy101 · 12/09/2005 21:02

I wanted to keep some in the freezer as I often run out for my lo, so from your suggestions I won't freeze.

If it is homogenised then it won't separate

poppy101 · 12/09/2005 21:02

Oh I will look out for this now.

No go on Poppy tru it. I buy over 24 pints at a time on a weekly basis and freeze most of it for use later in the week.

Lonelymum · 12/09/2005 21:03

try

I've been freezing whole milk for ages - Sainburys stuff - organic and non-organic. Have never had a problem with separation on defrosting.

So..I would say go for it.

I do the bulk-buy & freeze thing too, usually Waitrose organic which I think isn't homogenised. It does sometimes go a bit icky texture-wise, but if you give the bottle a good shoogle once it's defrosted it's hardly noticeable. Possibly depends on how picky your kids are - mine aren't so can be jollied out of noticing the odd stringy bit.

I bulk buy and freeze and have had no major problems. I buy Rachel's organic, and the downside with freezing the cartons is that I can never get the seal to come off properly once it has been frozen then defrosted
