Cyder vinegar in chutney - no no for recovered alcoholic?

I have no idea where to put this message! Am hoping somebody can help. I am making Christmas chutney for gifts, my sister wanted some for somebody to go in a hamper but they are a recovered alcoholic. Chutney has cyder vinegar in it - I would have thought no but is this alcohol in the true sense of alcohol or would it not count?

Hoping someone knows the answer!

Cider vinegar usually has a trace of alcohol in it but not much at all. What would I do? Make the chutney as you always would, put a list of ingredients on the label and then let the recipient make the decision.

Some recovered alcoholics are scrupulous about ensuring they have nothing with even a trace of alcohol in it. Others ensure that they simply don't drink alcoholic drinks. It's their choice.

By the time you've boiled it up I doubt there will be any alcohol left.

My dad is a recovered alcoholic. He doesn't mind alcohol in cooking (eg wine in a sauce) so cider vinegar cooked again in a chutney would be fine.

The alcohol in the cider turns into acetic acid, and acetic acid is the thing that makes vinegar vinegar rather than gone-off cider.

PLus how much is in there? If you're saying 'cyder' then let's say it was originally 7% alcohol. And the vinegar is, what, 10% of your chutney? So we're down to 0.7% alchohol even if you had accidentally made the chutney with cyder instead of cyder vinegar. But mst of the alcohol will hav eturned to acetic acid anyway.

Oh, plus if you boiled it alcohol boils quicker than water so will have boiled off.
