Veggie main course to go with dauphinoise potatoes?

Got friends coming for sunday lunch tomorrow and I want to make potatoes dauphinoise, but can't think of anything to go with it. DH seems to think it needs to be something without a gravy/sauce.

Any suggestions? Am making apple crumble for pudding so don't want a main with a crumbley-type topping.

I vaguely remember doing something like a terrine with chestnuts, and something else fairly terrine-like with courgettes. Would that work? The courgette could be served with a tomato sauce.

How about a vegetarian loaf - like a lentil loaf with garlicky/herby flavours in it...

Or stuffed marrow/courgette/butternut squash?

Ooh, have just found this recipe for Caramelised onion and lentil Wellington which sounds just the ticket. Thanks :)

This is delicious and would also work well.

I'd find pastry and lentils and potatoes too heavy. I'd go for something less carb/fat myself.

Puy lentils go beautifully with a dauph.

I cook puy lentils with carrots, parsnips and onions in port and vege stock and a bit of garlic and whatever herbs I have knocking around. Lovely with the dauphs and some savoy cabbage.

Otherwise my favourite thing to have with dauphs is a leafy salad with red onion and a sharp mustardy dresing. Maybe some roasted asparagus too.
