What do I need a food processor for?

Just that - MIL looked shocked that I don't have one but I'm not sure why I would need one.

I use a hand blender for soup, I use the little whizzer bowl attachment for breadcrumbs and pesto etc. I make cakes and scones by hand - what would a food processor do for me?

Let me know what you use yours for please.

Mine gets used all the time. It's a mid-range Kenwood Chef.

I use it for:

crumble
cake mix
pastry
rissoles (chuck mince, an onion, herbs, a slice of bread and an egg in the bowl and hit the blitz button)
coffee (it has a bean grinder attachment)
soups & smoothies (has a blender jug attachment)
whisking (has another attachment)
grating cheese/veg (yet another attachment)

Everything but the base unit can be chucked in the dishwasher and it all fits in a drawer in my kitchen.

I'm very Envy over those of you with a KitchenAid. I'd love one of those!
