Or is it better to freeze uniced and ice once defrosted?

Thank you - that is what I thought - just trying to save as much time as possible!

i have frozen with icing...no problems, as long as you leave enough time to defrost!

AllarmBells · 04/10/2010 13:25

yes I've frozen them, they are fine. Leave them to defrost naturally ie in somewhere cool, otherwise they go hard!

I freeze buttercream a lot and freezes fine! Just freeze separately - u can put the icing in a bag.

I eould freeze uniced - the icing goes weird when you defrost.

freeze un-iced - but you can ice when you take them out frozen, you don't have to wait for them to defrost. I think it's easier to ice frozen cakes TBH
