Can I substitute green lentils for red?

I've started making lentil soup only to discover that I only have 95g of the required 200g of red lentils.

I've got a box of browny-green coloured lentils in the cupboard; can I make up the difference with these or will it all go horribly wrong?

Thank you!

I think green take longer to cook than red and certainly the texture will be different.

Will probably taste okay though, especially if it's being blended, though it might go a bit of a muddy colour.

Cook the green ones for ten mins or so before putting in the red maybe?

It was fine! Quite tasty actually. Thanks BelligerentGhoul!
