Have taken the noble step of making DS's birthday cake. The design needs brown/choclate icing all over - one tah wo't run off down the sides.

pLEASE help me - Nigella's involved raw egg - not keen!

You need Cadbury for this - she makes a mean one - no idea whether it requires raw egg though!

CADBURYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I just melt a big bar of plain chocolate and add some double cream, it spreads on really easily and is thick enough not to run (if you don't add much cream). But then I always go for the easiest option!

Basic but scrummy-- butter and icing sugar and cocoa powder.

will it stick on th sides of a cake?
Also - will a victoria sponge recipe work in a loaf tn?

I agree with 3PRINCESSES - it should stick and if you need to smooth it on dip a butter knife or plastic spatula in hot water - makes it spread easier.

I reckon a sponge should work in a loaf it but it might be a bit dense, maybe add more baking powder?

3 eggs,
6 oz self raising flour,
6 oz margarine,
2 desert spoonfuls of Cadburys Cocoa powder, Bake in lined loaf tine approx 40 mins at 150, or about, maybe place sheet of foil on top after 25 min, to prevent burning. Use good old buttericing for the spread, again 3 oz soft marg, 6 oz icing sugar, desertspoon cocoa powder, perfect!!
