pork stew
spag bol
chilli
stir fry or fajitas made with left over roast

moragbellingham · 21/08/2010 17:37

spag bog
chilli & boiled rice/baked pots & salad
lamb keema with boiled rice and plain yoghurt (and naan)
lamb/beef massaman curry (not for you prob as lots of coconut milk/cream in mine)
prawn&chicken stir fry with rice/noodles
lamb in red wine with apicots from MN recipe
teriyake salmon with veg & rice noodles
salmon with honey & soy, brocoli & little pots

corn cobs cooked in the micro before any meal like spag bol (no veggies)

tb · 21/08/2010 17:44

Meatballs with minced pork

250g minced pork
2-3 sage leaves
2 dried chillies
2 tsp dried parsley
s+p
breadcrumbs from 1 slice wholemeal bread
2 lovage leaves/pinch dried lovage

Grind dried herbs with chillies, or process fresh ones with bread in processor.

Mix with meat in bowl, form into small balls.
Heat non-stick pan and cook in batches - no need to add any fat/oil.

Even our daft maine coon loves the raw mix, despite the chillies. They're probably good with tomato sauce, but we've never been able to keep them long enough. Blush

Called spiky meatballs by dd, and the name has stuck.

Oven baked white fish with tomatoes.
Mackerel baked in a little water with mustard and vinegar.
Home made beef burgers.
Omelettes

Normastanleyfletcher - could i please have the recipe for the pork stew?

Moragbellingham - think i will be piching that lamb recipe from the mn recipe section.

thanks for all the suggestions so far. Keep them coming.

Our usual things we always have are

spag bol
hm burgers
pork chops

Our favourites (3 quarters of us are veggie) are:

Thai vege curry and rice

Veggie sausage casserole

Puy lentil lasagne

Homemade wedges with something or other

Veggie curries of various combinations - loving paneer and channa chaat at the moment

Homemade quiche with little garlic roasted potatoes and salad

Now that dd1 has finally, aged 15, decided she can eat eggs without collapsing, Spanish omelette and salad

Lentil soup and good bread

Chickpea tagine and cous cous (bread for dp and dd2 who don't like cous cous)

Pasta and homemade pesto

I've started using a site called resourcefulcook.com for weekly meal plan inspiration. There's plenty of really good recipes there.

penny09 · 21/08/2010 19:18

Oh, I forgot to add that it provides you with a shopping list for the recipes you choose, which takes the hassle from having to do one yourself. It's really convenient. Has anyone tried it yet?

PrettyFeckinVacant · 21/08/2010 19:55

Mmmm, nice website. Is it yours penny?

Can I urge you all to make this chicken dish. It's just lemon chicken but it tastes so, so good.

simplyrecipes.com/recipes/lemon_chicken/

I like sausages with braised lentils, but the lentils also work well with salmon and something green.

Spinaroo · 23/08/2010 09:32

curry with chicken or king prawns and veg
spag bol
chilli
fajitas
pizza and salad (make your own pizza)
salmon with stir fry veg and noodles
or
salmon wrapped in bacon with new potatoes
lamb meatballs and pasta
turkey kebabs with couscous

moragbellingham · 23/08/2010 13:29

Ivykaty - where did you get your chicken and cider recipe from please.

I have an urge to get the slow cooker out and I ave some cider lurking somewhere.

ivykaty44 · 23/08/2010 15:55

I use nigellas chicken and white wine recipe - it is one where she just pours everything int he casserole dish and cooks.

Being poor Wink and rather than use the wine for cooking I drink the wine and use cidre instead Grin as it is basicly the same dish... for cidre is cheaper than a cottle of wine - well the cheap stuff is

Smash09 · 23/08/2010 23:58

This week:

Monday - Roast chicken, salad, new potatoes, olives
Tuesday - Chicken curry and rice (made with leftover chicken)
Wednesday - Baked potatoes with cheese, homemade coleslaw and green beans
Thursday - Chickpea and pepper stew with bulgar wheat (could do couscous)
Friday - Steamed salmon steaks, steamed new pots and mashed minty peas
Saturday - Pasta bake (will contain cannellini beans and tomato cheese sauce) with garlic bread and salad
Sunday - Homemade burgers in homemade buns with all the bits and bobs to go inside and potato wedges.

maktaitai · 24/08/2010 00:53

The Chicken Sequence: roast chicken, chicken pasta, lentil soup with carrots and chicken stock

kedgeree (easy version - make rice, hard boil eggs, quarter tomatoes, mash up smoked mackerel, mix all together with a handful of chopped parsley)

lasagne (weird version - i make a tomato/onion sauce with whatever fairly solid green veg are available - marrow at the moment unfortunately, then mix a tin of mackerel fillets through the sauce, then make a cheese sauce and do the lasagne as normal - it's a personal version of an old Annabel Karmel recipe)

gammon joint also popular, though last week sainsburys had NO british gammon at all

tortilla - dice potatoes and boil, fry onion for some time, add potato to frying pan, pour over lots more eggs than you think reasonable, add herbs.
