Think I fed the children bad salmon .. how long for a reaction?

Poached salmon for dinner (5pm), just had a bite of 2nd fillet and it was off. I did try theirs for temperature and didn't notice anything.

No reaction from DD (fifteen months) who went to bed at 7, nor from DS (4) 9pm .. if it had been bad would they have reacted by now or should I check on them?

they say food reacts about 6 hours after hitting the stomach.

what should I expect .. can they get very ill from salmon??

I've twice had food poisoning from fish - Tuna steaks actually, and both times I've got sick within minutes. But if I were you I'd call NHS Direct to put your mind at rest.

To be honest, I don't think there is anything that you can do now except be prepared, if you have a water filter, just have some room temperature water ready incase they are sick, cold could irritate their stomachs.

Fingers crossed the little mites are ok

at worst i would say just sickness and diorria (sorry cant spell that word to save my life)maybe tummy pains but they might be strong enough to not have an effect at all especially as they are asleep they may not feel it.

Hope they're ok? i'm sure they will be kids are tough!!

If you worry at all then phone NHS care line.

Did you cook it very thoroughly until it was hot? That, iirc, should be enought to kill any bacteria. Even very off food is usually safe to eat if cooked very thoroughly. Not nice, tastes horrid, but won't harm you.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

poached for about 12 minutes .. it was all pink and flaky no gooey bits I don't think

.. I didn't notice theirs tasting weird but the one I just tried definitely did

would it really take 6 hours for a toddler and pre-schooler too do you think?

.. I love it when the panic sets in and one starts to have psychosomatic symptoms on their behalf

i think they would have been ill by now, i had mild.food poisoning from a prawn sandwich once and it started just 2 hours after i ate it, had 2 lots of the runs, then felt ok.
