Any ideas please My Mother has asked me to cook an 80's themed dinner party for her and her friends, I have done 60's and 70's for them before but I am struggling here,
Angel delight, pot noodles and canned mushroom soup are not doing anything for me, I also need to have a cocktail and wine list. This is a big deal for them as they dress up and make a night of it please help.

Poohbearsmom, that is a fab list
I am off to see what kentish cherry batter pudding is [I lived in Kent for 5 yrs and never heard of it ] I am not brave enough to do Crepe Suzette with 8 drunken women watching though
And loads of ideas for lunch and dinner for the next few months
Thank you

I am currently looking for knickerboker glories glasses to have instead of vienetta I totally forgot about them I remember the first time i had one and being allowed to stand on the chair to eat it as I could not reach the top of the glass while sitting down and finding a strawberry at the end of the glass

Death by chocolate, around here in the wilds, was:

huge slice of chocolate devil's food cake accompanied by chocolate choc chip ice cream, hot choc fudge sauce, crumbled flake stuff and whipped cream.

IN the 80s around here, pizza was just taking off, also things like potato skins with garlic dip, blackened chicken, scampi, lasagne, chilli, spag bol, potato salad, pasta salad, savoury rice, florida cocktail.

Prawn cocktail was probably more 70s, but iirc in the 80s was served in half of an avocado pear - there used to be special avocado dishes. Blush

Think pizza and lasagne were very popular, from what I can remember. Also king prawns in garlic butter and spare ribs as a starter - even in an italian.
