What do you do with brioche? Husband made it (jaw dropping moment) but not sure what to eat with it!

Anyhting, really. It's just a sweet bread-cake cross. Have it plain or buttered with coffee or hot chocolate. Toasted is nice too. With jam (though possibly not Marmite). Brioche makes fab eggy bread/French toast or bread-and-butter pudding - a good way of using it up if it doesn't all get eaten and goes stale.

toasted with butter and jam or just butter, or chocolate spread. Yum :-)

gorionine · 02/08/2010 07:49

Just plain dunked in tea/coffee or with a bit of butter.

I second the French toast idea!

walkbesideme · 02/08/2010 07:52

French toast ... that sounds like a great idea. Will try it out on daughter later.

Thanks for the ideas.

But only make the french toast if there is any leftovers, enjoy it fresh first!

MmeLindt · 02/08/2010 07:57

Thickly sliced, with butter and jam.

Yum. Lucky you.

I thought of you MmeLindt! I bet they had a fabulous firework dispaly in Geneva! Talking about Brioche, have you ever tried "Cuchaule"? the real thing, not the supermarket plastic wrapped version 9thatr taste lemony instead of tasing of saffron like it should!) It is divine!!!

(Sorry for hijack OP)

Oh yum I love brioche!

I like mine in thick slices with my Mum's strawberry jam, or just plain dunked in coffee.

MmeLindt · 02/08/2010 08:22

It poured with rain last night, Gorionine, so we came home before the fire was lit and the fireworks went off. The DC were so disappointed, as were we. It was such a fab night last year. Not tried the other cake, but will look out for it.

Mmmm brioche.

French toast or I use it to do bread and butter pudding.

micku5 · 02/08/2010 12:14

What recipe is your DH used to make brioche? I've seen some online but would like one that has been tried and tested

UptoapointLordCopper · 02/08/2010 13:24

I've made brioche before using this. Quite easy, and yummy.

Tweetinat · 03/08/2010 18:55

Smoked salmon with poached egg on top - yummy

Had unreal brioche last night at local (fantastic) pub.
