It's easier if you joint it first.

yes, no problem at all. Just put it in, don't need any liquid, cook all day.

muggglewump · 31/07/2010 16:41

Yep.
It's not as tasty as a roast chicken, and you don't get the crispy skin, but the leftovers are a lot more moist.
I stuff a halved lemon and onion in it first, and chuck in a few garlic cloves.
Some rosemary or thyme sprigs are good too.

You don't eat the skin?
That's the best bit. I eat it all in the kitchen before DD gets any. I eat the oysters too.

deemented · 31/07/2010 17:08

No, i don't eat the skin because the thought of eating something that's had fleas and tics crawling on it reallllly doesn't do it for me.

I don't eat crackling either

Yep, it'll be sort of steamed chicken rather than roast, but it will be cooked and moist and tasty. Plusyou can whack the bones back in and make stock.

muggglewump · 31/07/2010 17:12

You are clearly weird. I made pulled pork last week and ate so much crackling I felt a bit sick. I still finished it though

Ooh and crispy duck skin, and just any meat skin and fat. I love it.
