BBQ food I can make the day before?

(x-posted on Chat, as realised this topic is more suitable!)

As the title says, really - am having a BBQ for some old friends on Saturday, and am rubbish when it comes to timings and organisation. Do any of you have any recipes or ideas of things I can make on Friday which will be okay to serve the next day? Anything which can be served at a BBQ would be great (salads, pastas etc.)

TYIA! (And keep doing the sun dance....)

I'm not sure about doing salads, pastas the day before. They usually don't take long to rustle up. You could marinade any meat, make salad dressings if so inclined and I would make a pavlova. Best dessert for a bbq! Get all crockery, glasses, serving platters, wine glasses out etc. Save time on the day.

We had a bbq on saturday and did mustardy potato salad, green salad, a big bowl of cherry toms, lamp chops and sausages. Pavlova drenched in strawbs. Lush.

that's what I thought re: pastas/salads. Love the Pavlova idea, thank you!

Probably too late now, but if BBQing chicken legs/thighs, we always marinade and cook in the oven beforehand. Then chill and eventually burn finish off on the BBQ. Same with sausages. Just means you don't have to wait for so long for the meat to cook and it still gets the BBQ flavour.
