Flouncers' corner

Return from flounce in a new guise, but please can somebody tell me what happened <shhh> Moldiegate?

Allets · 19/11/2009 12:26

I am a long time MN'er - joined in 2001.

Flounced in 2008, decided to lurk about a month ago and have since rejoined.

I keep seeing references to Moldies/Moldiegate.

What happened?

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 19/11/2009 12:37

bunch of long serving old-timers got hacked off with the change in 'climate' on MN and set up their own invitation-only site

some left, some post on both, some stuck to MN

NB the prolifically-posting fumble-fingered fish got stalked on MN by someone IRL and had to have her old posts deleted, but is back under a succession of assumed names so if you see someone you think is her it probably is - don't out her.

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/11/2009 13:35

Who were you?

foxytocin · 19/11/2009 13:38

she is obviously 'Stella'

WouldYouCouldYouWithaGoat · 19/11/2009 13:39

ffs - do we have to!

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/11/2009 13:46

I see where you're coming from, but no-one's ever posted as Stella foxy!

foxytocin · 19/11/2009 13:49

then it must be Beverly.

Allets · 20/11/2009 04:30

It was a legitimate request.

What is your problem WouldYouCouldYou? If you aren't interested in a thread - REFRAIN from looking at it!!!

I think I remember why I left MN in the first place.

That aside:

My monicker sounded similar to a certain British Car. I have 3 children - one born in South Africa.

That should be enough to ID me to those who may remember me.

Feisty! You have to tell us who you were thoughAllets. It's the new mn rules. If you don't tell us Big tech will post pics of you photoshopped with Jeremy Clarkson.

Furball · 20/11/2009 06:51

Allets - I know who you are!

Welcome Back

Flame · 20/11/2009 08:51

The problem is that whenever moldies is mentioned it goes on for 1000s of posts with people getting very worked up and hurt all over again

Not your fault obv

giraffesCannaeFlingPieces · 20/11/2009 08:53

No idea who you are but welcome back

Blu · 20/11/2009 08:53

Oh, 'ey 'up Allets, I think I know who you are! I was wondering the other day where you were, how you were!

Are you sticking with this name now? How are things? You were thinking of moving from one country to another, I believe - did you?

Ooh- even I remember you.

Welcome back.

Allets · 20/11/2009 10:39

Hi Blu. We did indeed. I have to go by this name as my old account was disabled (at my request). Been here 18 months now and loving it. Hope you are well!!!

Thanks TE & Furball.

I didn't know moldies was such was such an emotive subject. Perhaps it's best left alone.

I'll catch up with you all on other threads.

Oh I know who you are. First time ever I have managed to recognise someone in "disguise"! Welcome back!!!

alwayslookingforanswers · 20/11/2009 10:45

hmmm - I feel I should know who you are as well (I've been around since 2005) - but no haven't got a clue.

Welcome back anyhow

MamaG · 20/11/2009 10:49

Do folk still get upset over moldies? I thought we'd all moved on. It's been over a year hasn't it!

controlfreakythecontrolfreak · 20/11/2009 10:51

"It was a legitimate request.

you're on a v short fuse for someone who's just returned to the fluffy bosom of mn....

Tortington · 20/11/2009 10:51

some went off to set up another private forum.

it was more than private - like a fb group - it was also secret.

there are a few mumsnetters very upset that people they thought were their friends didn't 'nominate' them to join.

there are others who were nominated ( without their consent or knowledge) and were declined.

at one point a Poll was used in the style of

should we invite custardo

yes

no

the person at the centre of the nomination - never knew that the forum existed and that they were being nominated and talked about on another forum.

the argument ususally goes

what are moldies

brief explaination

why is that different from a fb group

becuase it was secret

noit wasn't

yes it was becuase Justine inadvertantly outted it online.

why is it different from a facebook group

and on

SoupDragon · 20/11/2009 10:55

"fluffy bosom"?? We don't have a fluffy bosom, we are vipers remember.

Tortington · 20/11/2009 10:55

but the isssue is the hoprrid duplicity of the whole thing and suddenly people i admired and talked to on mumsnet dissapeared from my facebook friends. One mumsnetter used a v. flimsy reason to be nasty to be including pointed fb status updates.

One i totally admired and thought wa awsome - literally turned into someone else. very violent tone.

a few are apologetic about the way this went down. Most aren't.

It was very upsetting.

bourboncreme · 20/11/2009 10:56

I've been here on and off since my ds3 was born in 2001,can't belive it really and I think I know who you are,I've also had a couple of name changes as well.

Sometimes I miss the cosiness of the old years but other times the hurly burly of the bigger forum is what makes it so stimulating and differnet from other forums

bibbitybobbityhat · 20/11/2009 10:57

Are they still recruiting? People do seem to quietly slip away ...

You probably qualify for an invite OP as you joined in 2001 .

bourboncreme · 20/11/2009 10:59

I think I didn't post enough to be one of the favoured few.I do miss some of those who have gone and I am useless atr knowing who went through MG and who just went
