Right that's it for Twiglett. I'm not having fun any more, there is little of interest and I'm getting wound up by things I'm not sure I really care up so it's time for me to bid a fond adieu

I won't name any dp because I'm not turning this thread into a popularity contest

darkpunk · 25/10/2008 13:06

ok.

PoppyCoc · 25/10/2008 13:09

Maybe when everyone who is moaning how crap mumsnet is now has gone, MN will return to its former grandour ..

Or it will take on a new life with completly different characters

Either way, all these sorts of threads are doing MN more harm than good, so

BYE!

TskullsScreaming · 25/10/2008 14:21

I agree with JoJosmaman's post about all this.

I don't get this topic. Well, I thought it was set up as a bit of a tongue in cheek joke.

It's kind of pretentious to use it seriously to provide a fanfare to the 'announcement' that someone is off.

What do the rest of us do now? All run about worried that we're not being interesting/entertaining enough to hold the attention of the glitterati of mn and they stomp off having slapped us on the wrist?

It's ok not to post on here. It's not the law. If you find it dull, it's ok to do something else. Why tell everyone about it? Unless of course it's an ego thing.

Monkeytrousers · 25/10/2008 14:27

I agree Expat - in the middle of some such debacle now. Can't banter saucily anymore. That is what I used to like best about MN, hence my flounce last week.

So I understadn Twig. No fun.

Expat, email me my love when you pop. I will still send doughnuts x

Monkeytrousers · 25/10/2008 14:28

Is having an ego a bad thing or a normal thing?

wannaBe · 25/10/2008 14:43

I think the argument that one should announce one's departure out of consideration to the friends one has made on mn is totally invalid.

Surely if you make friends on a website, then the friendships will evolve beyond that website, be that into email/msn/facebook/even rl.

Imo the only reason why people flounce publically is to confirm how popular/unpopular they are, - something which can be easily gaged by the number of responses.

BBBeeast · 25/10/2008 14:45

i am sad but i understand your reasons.

best wishes.

Tortington · 25/10/2008 14:47

one persons sauce is another's poison. its much to do with the intent.

that aside

chow twig. have a good one

suzywong · 25/10/2008 14:48

oh twig don't go with out emailing me I've lost yours
thinking of your impressive back door ...

SummatAnNowt · 25/10/2008 14:49

Actually you can make new friends by flouncing. I had a major flounce from a forum about 3 years ago and someone I'd never specifically chatted to but liked emailed me and we've been really close friends since then.

ledodgy · 25/10/2008 14:54

I think the opinion that flouncing by a long standing member of a community is to see how popular you are is incorrect. All Twig is doing is saying goodbye and I can't see anything wrong with that.

gothicmama · 25/10/2008 14:56

farewell Mn's favourite savoury snack I'll miss you Twig

PoppyCoc · 25/10/2008 14:58

Surely if Twiglett doesn't return it was a thread started purely to say goodbye.

However if she starts posting again, it will be see as an attention seeking thread to gauge popularity.

Only time will tell

ledodgy · 25/10/2008 15:00

No. If she comes back it simply means she has changed her mind.

wannaBe · 25/10/2008 15:02

oh I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

I guess I'm only speaking from my own perspective - if i decided to flounce I would still watch the thread to see if anyone actually cared.

Don't think I'll ever bother though as am fairly sure no-one would

PoppyCock · 25/10/2008 15:05

not surprised to see you go, twig, it's been on the cards i fear. hope you'll come back at some point, though.

and PoppyCoc, are you so angry all the time cos i've got the name you wanted?

PoppyCoc · 25/10/2008 15:06

Course it does ledodgy

PoppyCock · 25/10/2008 15:10

it does, it really does, you know. she can post to say goodbye, she can change her mind, she do whatever she likes...
you seem to delight in putting a mean twist on everything, Coc, why is that? are you really a newbie or are you an oldie exercising a few well-worn grudges?

PoppyCoc · 25/10/2008 15:11

I'm not angry Aitch, I just call a spade a spade.

CockyCoc · 25/10/2008 15:12
ledodgy · 25/10/2008 15:14

eh?? Is it justmy computer or were those last two messages both from you poppy?

PoppyCock · 25/10/2008 15:15

i've got the kicking k that she so craves, dodg.
