Could just be puffed out cheeks (like Yahoo) without anything actually coming out of the mouth. I've never had a sick problem, my SILs brother covered me when he was 4 months. His mum said "I thought you'd be used to it" I told her if Tink was that sick I would think she was ill.

Sorry, but speaking as an ex-one (emetophobe) I really don't think it is a disability. It is a mental health disorder for which there is an effective management strategy or even treatment - CBT.

Exposure is the key! You can't stop spiders running through your living room or having to go up high sometimes; so other people's phobias can't be allowed to restrict non-phobics' lives, even if they do restrict the phobics' lives. So I say yay! to the vomit emoticon.

Never mind the types of emoticons. Isn't it about time we had an overall emoticon count alongside the post count to a thread? That way we can spot in an instant the controversial threads where everyone is and and at everyone else.

Us busy working mums who have to limit our time on Mumsnet (to when the boss isn't looking) need these counts in order to rubberneck make sure we can contribute to the challenging debates of the day....

Personally I think we should do away with all emoticons. Learn to express yourself with words! (oops)

Emoticons aren't about not being able to express yourself in words. They add a little bit of tone to what someone says, as is said a lot on any forum, you can't always read what was behind someones words because you don't get body language and facial expressions.

Sometimes IRL you will pull a face rather than answer something.

that sad one looks far too 'comedy' to depict actual sadness. Will look very tasteless on those sympathy threads I think...
