Im fed up of never managing to make friends on here (9 years on/off) Proper ones not just where people are friendly and welcoming on a nice steady thread.

I don't think im very good at this online chatting thing. I seem to get ignored completely.

Andsmile. This thread came up on active convos otherwise I would have missed it.
I feel very much the same way as you do. I've been here about the same amount of time too. MN has changed quite a bit over the last year or so. I don't feel that people are able to express indivual views any more. The herd mentality has started to take over.

I may take the summer off and see how I feel later in the year.

Please stick around.

Quinteszilla · 30/03/2014 00:23

andsmile if you want to be noticed, stop namechanging and stick to your name! Find something memorable, and stick to it!

I was QuintessentialShadow for ever, until I decided to pay homage to the entertaining wedding threads, as all the bridezillas out there give me such a good laugh.

nevergoogle · 30/03/2014 00:23

I think the namechanging makes it so difficult to keep track of who you've spoken to before.

But i do think it's possible to strike up friendships but not instantly.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 30/03/2014 00:25

Ach I'm always invisible, unless I remind someone of Mallory Towers :) so I mostly tend to ask about cakes and "can I eat this two day old mince?". Works for me!

WetAugust · 30/03/2014 00:29

Yep, I sometimes despair at the lack of sensible deabte on here and how quickly people trot our their very entrenched views. Discussion is alsmost impossible on a lot of boards. Perhaps Gwendoline has found the secret - just stick to the inane and not expect too much?
Most of my MN friendships have been made via PM rather than on the boards.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 30/03/2014 00:34

I do find that I can predict the answers from the thread title. Maybe I've been here too long too. That's not to say there isn't some great advice on here but generally inane is definitely safer. Sad but true.

Everyone knows who you are, scottishmummy!

scottishmummy · 30/03/2014 00:54

I don't name change,don't see point,and don't know how is biggest reason

lessonsintightropes · 30/03/2014 00:59

And you are also very consistent, and sometimes fairly brutally honest, which makes you memorable.
