Noisy filter

Just purchased a small aquarium and the filter is making a humming, vibrating noise. The water trickles from the top so can't do anything about that but should filters make any noise at all? Should I look at a different aquarium? Mine is a MyAquarium 16L

Yes filters do all make some noise. They shouldn’t be unbearably noisy though. Sometimes that means the impeller is going and needs replacing. If you don’t like the sound of the water trickling you can usually place the outlet below the water line, or baffle it with some sponge.

What are you planning on putting in the tank? 16L is only 4 us gallons. You can’t really house anything apart from shrimp and snails in there.

Only 1 or 2 guppy's

Unfortunately 16L is too small for fish. Guppies are very active and are happier in groups of 6 or more (and if you have females, they'll multiply fast). They are happiest in tanks at least 1.5-2ft long.

And yes, there will always be a bit of filter noise, nothing is ever silent, and TBH the smaller the tank the cheaper the filter and the noisier they are. My big 200L tank is much quieter than my 25L shrimp tank!
