Guppies!

Hello. We had three guppies in a small tank for a couple of years and two sadly died. My DH took the kids out to choose two more each. I had convinced myself that our existing guppy was female and didn't check, but I now think it must be male as it was following around the two new guppies with interest. Doing some further readjng, I am quite convinced that "Lucy" is male.

I have separated the guppies and may see if we can do a switch for males at the aquatics centre tomorrow, because I think having babies probably is beyond us. But I wanted to seek advice on how difficult it is to sell any babies should we get them anyway. We don't have a big tank, so I don't really want more than the 3 we have!

Not much to say op, other than they're quite prolific breeders, and you will be overrun with fish before you can blink!

My MIL started with a handful, and now has a tank full of them, and finds it difficult to get anyone to take them.

You could enquire around local pet and aquatics shops to see if they would be willing to take any excess babies in future, and make a decision based on what they say.

The only time I've never seen guppies totally overrun a tank was when my DH used to keep a community of tropical fish, only a few guppies survived to adulthood, it didn't stop them constantly breeding though😬
