Identifying fish

Anyone know what fish this is? neighbour had to flee their home (won't go into it) and can't take the fish.

It's huge! and looks in bad condition. I've only had Beetas before so I'm overwhelmed

Poor thing, I imagine it should be all gold

Is it a koi, was it in a pond or a tank, is there an aquarian you can contact

I watched a video about a goldfish that had turned black but got better and turned back to a glorious gold healthy fish, I hope the same happens here.

Whatever it is, it looks pretty lonely

It's an Oscar of some sort. Unless you want fish keeping to be your new hobby I would get in touch with you local aquarist shop or public aquarium or fish keeping group and see if someone will take it off your hands.

it is an oscar, still looks very young and small, water quality looks bad they can get up to 1ft in length its a type of cichlid and shouldnt be kept with smaller fish, if you cant house it in a min 5ft tank then please take it to your local fish shop as they will re house him
