Betta help?

I got my new betta on Sunday. We had been cycling the tank for approx 4 weeks previous and before we bought him we took some tank water in to the shop for him to test. He said the water was spot on so we could get our fish. Brought him home and introduced slowly. Kept lights off for 24 hours and waiting to feed after 24hours.

I've gave him 3-4 pellets yesterday morning and the same today, he eats them straight away.

Now my question is, am I doing anything wrong? I'm sat watching him now and he just chills, doesn't seem to be much of a swimmer. Is that normal?

Should also add he's in a 5 gallon tank with heater and filter. Filter current is barely one. I have just ordered a hammock for him seen as though he loves to sleep.

Some Bettas are pretty chilled. How big is his tail? That can hamper some - I've had a couple that chewed on their own tails >_<

As long as he isn't looking pale, stripy and stressed sat on the bottom, then he's fine. It's normal for them to hang at the top, maybe come dashing over if they see activity outside the tank that might mean snacks.

Thanks I'm started to realise maybe he's just a really lazy fish because other wise he seems perfectly fine. He's actually built a bubble nest too :) so I'm taking it as a good sign he is happy.

His fins are probably average I'd say. I'll attach a pic.

Awww, he looks like my first Betta I had about 10 years ago called Bruce Willis haha!

Haha great name! We've called him Sumo, even though he's quite the opposite!
