And now, a few weeks later we have teeny tiny snails. I can only assume there were eggs on the plant. Can the snails stay?

yes they are harmless but look unsightly and they do breed alot so you may become over run by them

Go to pets at home and ask for an assassin snail. That will eat them all.

These are an absolute nightmare and breed like wildfire. Our tank was covered it's was awful.

Thank you. We only have three (so far) and they're quite sweet/interesting so I guess we'll keep an eye and clear them out if they become more numerous.
