Does anyone have one as a pet? I have wanted one all my life and just after advice on them as a pet? Easy or hard to look after? Obviously I could Google about them but it's good to get info from owners. Thank you

I love them, I work in a school and we have some in a classroom. They do tend to fight a bit and bite off limbs but they do grow back which is a bit exciting/gross!

This is a good website about their care:
www.axolotl.org/

They can get pretty big so need a good sized tank. They are strictly coldwater and will struggle in warm temperatures. You have to be careful with the substrate as they will swallow things, including stones. And they will eat any smaller tank mates too so can't be kept with fish, smaller amphibians or smaller axolotls!

Fascinating creatures though.
