Six years ago DD came back from a fair with a fish. He was beautiful a Bristol goldfish. We scrounged a tank. The next year DD and DSD won another to stop their pet being lonely. We scrounged a bigger tank. Three years ago they bought DS his own fish to ensure he was invested in looking after the fish, while the girls were at Uni. We got the biggest bloody tank available.
They have grown and pooped in the extreme. They let you stroke them, they terrorise the weather loaches and they can all breach like whales for fun. They watch you do the hoovering and beg for food. They have been great pets but were to big for their tank. The water changes were becoming industrial scale.
They have moved into the pond today. They have new friends (we scrounged some stunt goldfish to test the water in the pond). They now have 20,000 L of water to race around in and look very happy and perfectly in scale to their new surroundings.
If you don't have a big pond, do not get goldfish. Their large tank would have cost a fortune if I have had to buy it. On the plus side the weather loaches are looking so chilled.
