Siamese fighting fish

Sorry for starting another new post.

Brief history. Currently have 2 goldfish in a 25L tank. These will hopefully be moved into there new home within the next week.

I want to convert the 25L tank into a home for a fighting fish as having read up this seems a good size for it and there stunning fish.

What do I need to do to change the setup from Goldwater to tropical?

Would like a real plant for it too, any suggestions?

Apart from a heater plant and food is there anything else we need?

A filter. And a light for the plants.

Oh and a air pump and an air stone to oxygenate the water.

No. You don't need an air stone, in fact that will agitate the water too much in a tank that tiny. It'll look like a hurricane.

Siamese fighting fish need fairly gentle current in the water. They are not river fish. You'll need a filter (Dennerle do a nice corner filter for small nano tanks like yours). That'll be fine.

I've got a I think fluval mini filter in the tank. ATM I have the top of the filter at the top of the water line to create bubbles for the goldfish but I can raise the water level and lower the filter as its not variable but it's very gentle when I put it in the wrong place.

How are you getting on rainbow? Dd and I keep siamese, they are fairly simple to look after. As has been said no air stone and if you can baffle the filter for a gentle current he will be over the moon.
Biggest issue is over feeding, the stomach is around the size of the eye and they are greedy beggars. I'd suggest a starve day personally just to avoid any constipation issues.

You can buy 'toys', zoo med do a leaf which suckers to the side of the task towards the top of the water line, as they are labyrinth lung (air breathers) they love to lie on them at the top. They also make a floating log which you can train the fish to go into for food and a floating ball with a mirror attached for a little exercise (not to be left in for very long at all though!)
Mine also has a ping pong ball he likes to knock around the surface. They will hand feed too when they have settled.

This is my boy, his colours are fabulous. DD'S is a marble siamese and seems to change colour weekly. He started out a very pale pink and is now almost totally purple. It's quite fascinating to watch.

DD's is a pleasant little thing, he lives with a few harlequins and shrimp. Mine is like yours ser a grumpy bugger.
He lived quite happily with a pepper cory for a while, then one day turned on him so he had to be moved. Popped in some huge shrimp and I think he's eaten those. He's on his own now.
