Water changes

While I'm asking about the filter issue, here's another question......

Is there any reason that I shouldn't mix up hot and cold water in a bucket to the right temperature? (Adding dechlorinator) I've seen a few posts online about water changes saying it's important to leave a bucket overnight so that it matches tank temperature. I'm just wondering why you can't just mix hot and cold together.

There is no need to stand the water. There is no need to age the water. If you dechlorinate it's fine. Yes, you can mix cold and hot to match the temperature.

Water changes should normally be 25-50% so unless you have a tiny tank it's impractical to wait for the water to get up to temperature so that sounds strange advice to me.
