Holiday feeding for cloud minnows and catfish

Newbie fish keeper here!

DS1 has some cloud minnows and catfish which are thriving on being fed every other day. He's had them since September. We have an auto fish feeder which will run for a week, but what if we were to go away for longer? Would we need a fish-sitter, or do you think they'd be OK fasting for up to a week?

A week is a bit long for minnows to fast really, small fish need small regular meals. They probably won't die but they'll get pretty skinny and it might be detrimental to their health.

What sort of auto-feeder is it? You can get ones that you fill up one container with food and it just dispenses a little each day. That way you can keep it running for as long as the food lasts.

Hi Eau it's a timer feeder, battery powered, with compartments for food. I'll sound out the neighbours.
