Got a Biorb 60. Do you really have to change the filter every 6 weeks? Can you not just give it a wash,

Nt sure, i havn't got one as apparently they are not great tanks to have as the water surface area is not big enough to keep healthy fish in, they have a built in filter dont they? i wouldn't change the filter every 6 weeks, just rinse it in water from the tank every so often. I only change the filter media if its totaly no good (probably every 6 months or so).
