I've got some peppered corydora eggs in my fry tank, I've never hatched eggs before so any advise would be great. But firstly, are they going to hatch? I've only got one corydora, its mate died 2/3 weeks ago so would they be fertile?

I'm going on holiday saturday so wont be able to watch them unfortunatly

Can't help but I shall be chanting the words peppered corydora all week nowGrin.

I don't think they will be fertile if you've only got the one cory, they can't store sperm like guppies and mollies can. Do you know for sure they are cory eggs? What do they look like?

DangerousMouse · 20/07/2012 20:08

they are corydora eggs as I only have 5/6 platty fry in the tank, if they cant store sperm then they definatley aren't fertile. I've gone today and bought two more as I felt sorry for the lonesome one! I've transfered the eggs to a breeding net, I'll leave them there until I get back and see. Maybe now I can get some fertile eggs as I have 3!

Maybe! Were they laid on the glass then? Did you manage to get them off without damaging them?

DangerousMouse · 20/07/2012 20:15

Yeah, they were on the glass. I scraped them off with a bit of plastic, they floated off but I managed to catch them in the net! I think they got into the breeding net unscathed. I hope I get some more!

I love Peppered Coreys! I had a group in my 300 litre tank (sadly now given away). It was fascinating watching the females lay her eggs. She would swim around and then kind of push her head into the male's side and the eggs would kind of fall out of her her. Oddly it was only my albino coreys that laid them on the tank glass. Never had any hatch though - too many loaches overjoyed at the free caviar-fest...

Hope you manage to hatch some!
