but just want to check something. My goldie is about 9 years old, and recently I thought it would be a good idea to change his food as the pellets I had were about 5 years old! I've got him flakes for a change but just wondering on whether he needs to be fed as he was on the pellets, about 3 times a day. Someone I spoke to today says fish should only be fed once a week! The man in the pet shop said to feed as I had before. Sorry if I sound irresponsible, but want to make sure I don't overfeed. Thanks

Every 2 days is enough, any more with flakes makes the tank go murky

Once a week? No, not for a goldfish. Every day is fine, 3 times might be too many but it depends how much you are giving him.

It's a good idea to supplement the flakes with some fresh fruit or veg and some live food every once in a while goes down well. Pre-soaking the flakes will stop your goldie taking in too much air with the food.

Thanks, about 6 flakes at a time. Nervous about it now. Maybe I'll get some 'fresh' pellets!
