Will my goldies eat blanket weed?

I know goldies are omnivores... I am moving my 2 lovely guys back outside to their pond, but the pond has grown a nice green beard!

So, if I lift most of the green out, will they chomp on the rest do you think?

Thank you for any advice! :)

I don't think they do.

Blanket weed is a bugger, I've tried all sorts to shift mine. I can tell you that the interpet stuff doesn't work, neither does barley straw. Apparently UV filters are good, I think most pond filters have UV in them these days. My bro's pond has it and he doesn't have any blanket weed.

We just use a stick to get ours out but we only have frogs and newts in our pond, I don't think they're that bothered about it.

Thanks Eau Rouge :)

I have a little uv inside my filter.. Might have to check the bulb..

I shall manually clear it out so it doesn't bother the fish, had hoped it might have been fun for them to eat it!
