How do I feed the frogs whilst on holiday

Hi, been lurking for a while but this is my first post on fishnet :)

We are fish geeks and have three tanks. We have our main community tank (180 litres), a small Nursery tank for any babies we see swimming about in the main tank, and a froggie tank (American dwarf frogs) :)

We are going on hols soon and I am planning on putting a feeding block in the main tank (not a problem) and Nursery tank (hope it works!). I'm stuck with what to do with the frogs though. We have bought an automatic feeder but it doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone have any idea if the frogs will be ok for a week with a normal feeding block? The only other fish in their tank are a couple of corys (I know they should be in a shoal but they seem so happy in there we are loathed to put them in the comm tank with the others).

That would be African frogs, not American!

Dunno about frogs but smaller animals tend to need feeding quite frequently. Which auto feeder did you get?

A Nutrafin Nutramatic one - the contacts in the battery compartment do not seem brilliant so I suspect that may be the issue. We've decided to rope the inlaws into feeding them instead every other day so hopefully that should be ok!

Oh yeah, I had one of those, it was shit. The Eheim one is really good although a bit pricier than the others.

Well done for roping in the in-laws You might want to put little labelled portions in freezer bags or something if your in-laws aren't sure about the amount of food to give.

We're inviting them round before we go to give them a lesson on how much to feed - last time they did it (when we only had the large comm tank) we came back to a tank full of rotting food!

I have a mixed community 90l tropical tank. I have guppies, neon tetras, white cloud mountain minnows, 2 odessa barbs, 2, zebra danios and currently 4 african dwarf frogs. I put in a feeding block for the time I was to be away on holiday (1 week) which was fine for the fish.

I usually feed my ADFs every other day, but to prepare them for my holiday I increased their feeding schedule to every day for 4 days. Frogs will gourge themselves given the chance, so they ate it all and when I came back they were all fit and well.

I worried about them all week whilst I was away as this was the first time I had left them for so long. Fortunately, they were well and I will do the same next week when we go away in the caravan.

I hope this advice is of some help, I did research thoroughly before settling on this course of action.

Try using tetra holliday.
They are completely edible and contain daphnias.
Half a block should do for a week for two adfs.
