Hi Hoping an expert could help
I used to keep fish as a teenager but didn't really know all bout cycles stocking levels ect but was fairly successfull. Now many years later I would love a tank again but it will probably have to be quite small so was thinking of a Betta fish. I want to do it right and while I save the pennys was wondering if anyone can recommend any good books on fishkeeping, cycles, planting good tanks and the like.
Many thanks
h.

I've got tons of fish books. The problem is that a lot of them are out of date, especially in terms of fish welfare. Fishless cycling is still on the up and a lot of books still recommend using mollies or danios to cycle a tank.

This is by far my favourite though, it's really comprehensive but not so geeky that it's unreadable. It says 'tropical' but it's for all freshwater fish really.

The PFK website has loads of articles on planted tanks.
