Just bought them today - they are GORGEOUS!
They are for a tank at work so have had to pop them in an established 60 litre tropical tank at home just for tonight. But already I love them. I wetted my finger and put it in flakes then dipped my finger in the top of the water. (I do this for the other fish in there, I am very sad!)
Anyway, these two came right up to my finger and had a good feel with their "feeler" things and ate the flake quite happily. Very very sweet!!
Has anyone kept these before? The tank is right next to where I'm typing and they are just sitting there watching me!

Oh bolllocking arse! All is not well.
One keeps harassing the other - almost trying to pin it down! I know theyr're only in this small tank for one night, but don't want to come down tomorrow and find one dead! He's trying to nip the lovely patterned fin on the other one's underside :-(
Godddd - sure nobody's around, but if anyone could advise I would be grateful. I could move one of them to my 300 litre coldwater - would that be ok for just a night???
Tried banging the side of the tank with my finger and issuing a stern "NO!" (seemed like a good idea!) but the bloody aggressor just pointed its little feelers at me. :-(

Oh no :( Are they both males? That's the first thing I can think of.

Hi EauRouge,
I'm not sure of the sexes to be honest - I asked for one of each, but didnt watch the assistant put them in - (bloody gawping at the giant plec they have!) Trying to sex them from pics online I would have to say there's a good chance they ARE both males! :-(
They were fine this morning from what I could see - no shredded fins or snapped feelers. I left them in work tank this evening and althoug they were still annoying each other, at least they have more space to do so in...

Arse, I was sure I replied to this thread last night. I wonder which thread I actually posted on Grin Anyway, is there any chance you can get a photo? Do the dorsal fins look the same on both of them?

ButWhyIsTheGinGone · 11/02/2012 12:59

Oops - sorry, I'm hopeless at coming back to threads.
I am absolutely certain they were both males, but not a problem any more as they are now in separate tropical tanks and seem to be happy enough.
