i am a bit worried about one of my guppies.
it is orange, and a while back a dark streak developed in its tail. i looked this up and it seemed that it was a common thing so didn't think much more about it

however, it now looks kind of "thick" at the base of the tail, i can see the scales quite clearly which i can't anywhere else on the body (does that make sense? they seem almost raised)

and now there is a nick in the end of the tail. i guess it could have been bitten by one of the other fish, but i am worried it could be tail rot?

if it is tail rot, what should i do?

I'm here, I namechanged though Wink

Poor guppy :( it looks like it could be the start of an ulcer, it does look a bit swollen. The nick could easily be a bite from another fish, what are the prime suspects? It should heal up fine as long as the water quality is OK.

You could try Waterlife myxazin for the ulcer (don't bother with the interpet treatments, they suck).

BTW you should be able to get the waterlife stuff in most pet shops with a decent aquatic section.

thank you eaurouge, fish treated, man in shop said he thought the colouration was normal colouration and that the fish had been bitten by one of the other guppies. he said he looked in good shape aside from the bite.,
treated anyway just in case and all seems ok!
