DD wants to take girl friends to cinema on 28th for birthday 'party' but I'm struggling to find anything on the listings that looks suitable/good. Any recommendations? p.s. DD gets 'spooked' easily!

Bumping your thread for you ('Cause am nice like that!) to try get you some ideas.

Alice In Wonderland (too creepy?)
Princess And The Frog (too babyish?)

I'm have this trouble, am desperate to take my kids to the cinema for a treat, but there is never nothing suitable on that we really want to see.

The cinema where I live has 'Kids Screen' at the weekends - It has older films that's been out for a while showing (Alvin And The Chipmunks 2 is on now, but it changes every week).. It's half the price of a normal child ticket and adults get in free.

Alice looks brilliant!

I'm going to take DD to see Alice in Wonderland next week I think.

She is 10 and easily spooked too but I'm sure she'll cope. She managed with the recent A Christmas Carol which had creepy looking computer generated people and made me jump a few times

Nanny Mcphee comes out on the 26th March, so i will be booking tickets for that for my DD 9th b'day treat, she loved the first one so hoping this lives up her to expectations.

mumwhereareyou - like the sound of Nanny McPhee but DD hasn't seen first one and some of her friends might not have either - do you think it will matter?

No, it won't matter as it is about a different family this time, its about a lady who lives on a farm and her DH has gone off to war. Should be really good, Emma Thompson is fab as the nanny.

Thanks so much mumwherereyou and other mumsnetters - will be booking Nanny McPhee! mumwhereareyou maybe we should compare notes afterwards?

Thanks ,yes it would be good to compare it, must say i am rather looking forward to it as well. Just hoping i can get tickets for the 1st night as that is a Friday and DD is hoping for a sleepover as well, would like to combine the 2 if i can.
