DP and I want to watch a DVD tonight, but can't think what films we have missed in the cinema that should be out by now.

We like sci fi, or action/thriller stuff. DP says 'if you ask mumsnet we'll get romcoms' so please prove him wrong!

we watched Taken with Liam Neeson ..really enjoyed it but the thought of dd going travelling gives me the panics now.

I saw Taken, you just need to tell your DD that she is not to share taxis with strangers. No matter how 'cute' she thinks they are.

Yes, In Bruges is one of the best films recently.

Serenity -- that was a great sci-fi film. Based on the series Firefly but definitely stood on its own as I haven't seen the series. never having seen a review, I remember the dawning realisation that this was actually really really good.

I would second the Orphanage.

And put on a list somewhere the film that's out at the cinema at the moment: Let the Right One In. Can't stop thinking about it. Kid is being bullied at school. Befriends a vampire of his own age -- both 12. She helps him stand up to the bullies. Touching, sweet, with some terrifying moments of horror and blood.
