It was indeed, Reality

If they hadn't had the newsvendor and the kid (although he looked more of a mature student!) embracing each other at the end I might have forgiven them, but that was a bit ???

But it's great news they filmed it, I will watch out for that, ta

Other teeny tiny quibble was that Bubastis wasn't really explained (if she was, I missed it!) and it was a bit 'where did that spring from?' when she did appeared at the end - it was almost like they went 'we can't fit in any more exposition but hey, we've spent the cash on the CGI, let's put it in there! Certainly my friends who hadn't read the book were a bit 'wtf?' over that.

Now I want to go and see it again!!

did appear

I saw this in Oz on Saturday. Definitely VMax cinemas needed - I suppose it is the same as IMax. Wonderful visually and excellent soundtrack. Spoiled for me by its silly certification of MA15 which meant that a horde of 6 -10 year olds in the charge of an adult were seeing a movie they couldn't understand and whose content was entirely unsuitable for them. They talked constantly, LOVED the rape scene and went for walkies towards the end.

Anyway, back to the film, very good indeed, and I don't even like its genre in principle, so had few expectations.

I did NOT like the endorsement of rape, really nasty. To reveal why would spoil it for you,

echt · 08/03/2009 22:31

Should add that the sex and violence mean it needs an 18 rating. I only wish the Oz authorities had done the equivalent here.

southeastastra · 09/03/2009 13:39

have you all seen this?

i'm getting more and more sucked in

annaje · 18/03/2009 10:31

Meridian - I know - that man can play a total bastard - but he is so fine - he just gets away with it (goes away to wonder if JDM got to keep the costume.......mmmmm I hope so )

meridian · 20/03/2009 14:22

I suppose Doc Manhattan wasn't too bad either!

annaje · 20/03/2009 14:44

the man wears 'blue' well - but for me it's all about The Comedian

meridian · 23/03/2009 14:47

annaje- lol ... I think I will be putting the dvd on my christmas list..

annaje · 23/03/2009 17:15

Just fun this thread...

DH and I came out with the most ridiculous grins on our faces. Bloody brilliant. Loved it loved it loved it.

The ending is ok but on deeper inspection does not make sense. Don't want to spoil it for anyone that hasn't seen it but the whole point of the original ending is that the world comes together to face a common threat, thus ending the cold war. This cannot really be said of the ending in the film.

The DVD will be awesome with some vital missing scenes added back in, again don't want to say too much as might ruin it for those who haven't seen the film.

Am truly in lust with the Comedian.

Rorschach rocks

Ooop.."just found this thread..."

sfxmum · 26/03/2009 15:08

went with dh last Friday and we both enjoyed it, he is a devotee of the graphic novel so had things to pick and complain about

but I thought the opening sequence and the soundtrack alone were worth at least half the price of admission
It looked wonderful

meridian · 27/03/2009 12:49

I bought the soundtrack for DH's birthday... so I can steal it naturally.. but it must be said that we probably have half the tracks on various cds in the collection.

bunnyrabbit · 27/03/2009 15:14

Ooooh soundtrack.. hadn't thought of that. Must add to Amazon wish list ....
